As a member of Little’s marketing team, I sit among four incredible women. To be honest, I can’t imagine my day without having them a stone’s throw away. We collaborate, we find solutions, we learn from each other and, on occasion, we like to think we’ve solved the world’s problems (not a rarity among any group of women). How could I give this up – even for only a short time? I’m not certain that I can, but I’m going to give it a shot. In 2013, I want to begin sharing the enthusiasm for desk swapping.
Admittedly, it’s seems somewhat intimidating, but the idea of trying out someone else’s digs for a short period of time, interacting with people that I rarely have the opportunity to work with and gaining fresh perspectives/ideas seems too good to pass up. While my thoughts for now are to start by swapping desks with others just down the hall, I can imagine how great it would be to exchange with someone a bit further away – perhaps even our Beijing office. Maybe I’ll start by landing at a desk surrounded by all men but, then again, coming from a group of women, that has cultural shock written all over it.
